School Oriented Field Trips:

Co-Hosted a Financial Management Association trip to Chicago with 10 students in March of 1997.
 
In an effort to build an International Business Program at APSU, a preliminary trip to Paris, France was made with two students in May of 1997.
 
Co-Hosted a Financial Management Association trip to New York with 12 students in March of 1998.
 
In an effort to build an International Business Program at APSU a second trip to Paris was made with one professor and two students in April of 1998.
 
Co-Hosted a Financial Management Association trip to Chicago with 14 students in March of 1999.
 
From March 5th to March 14th in 1999, the first formal international trip to Paris and London was made with seven students from Austin Peay State University. The students received one hour credit for this trip and made a formal presentation to the faculty and students upon their return. We visited La Bourse (the French Stock Exchange), a French Accounting Firm, a small manufacturing facility and gained much international experience. However, because of University budget cuts and other associated constraints, the program was terminated.
 
From February 23rd to March 16th in 2010, I visited Pushkin, Russia and helped teach several "English as a Second Language" (ESL) classes to students at the local university and at the local "English Club" in the downtown area.
 

 

 
 

Service to the University:

Personally instrumental in getting the Karate Program rejuvenated in the Department of Health and Human Performance and served as a mentor to the adjunct faculty member who was the instructor of record; team-taught the course for three semesters. However, due to budget cuts and the State of Tennessee eliminating Physical Education from the curriculum (128 hours to 120 hours) the program was terminated.

International Order of Odd Fellows, Noble Grand and Chairman of Trustees
 
Presentations to Middle School and High School Math students
 
Taught Sunday School at the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville and coordinated several skits such as "The Book of Job: Modernized and to the Point" (October 17, 1999) and "Advent is such an interesting word," (December 2000).
 
Reporting to the Mayor of Clarksville, I served on a Feasibility Study Committee and helped to write "The Report of the Committee Evaluating the Purchase of the First Union Bank Building in Downtown Clarksville." This report was submitted on April 3, 2000 and, relying upon our recommendation, the Building was subsequently purchased by the City of Clarksville and is now being utilized as a county building. My involvement and input was requested because in 1982 and 1983 I was the Owner’s Representative on the original construction of the project and reported at that time to Mr. Dewey Morris, the Bank President.
 
After earning a 2nd degree Black Belt ranking in Kami Bushi Kai Shotokan Karate I am pleased to be a volunteer Instructor at the Baize Martial Arts Dojo in Clarksville.
 

 

 
 

Industrial Consulting and Associated Experience:

Registered as a Professional Engineer in both Tennessee and Kentucky my experience as a Consulting Engineer includes setting time standards, establishing Statistical Process Control (SPC) programs, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, monitoring safety programs, reviewing plant lay-out, design drawings and specifications, queuing analysis, Construction Liability Countermeasures (CLC), New Product Scheduling, Project Management, Architect's Representative, Owner's Representative and other typical Industrial Engineering activities. Areas of expertise are Project Planning and Scheduling using the state of the art PERT/Simulation techniques, Production/Operations Management, Management Science, Forecasting, Statistical Quality Control, Simulation and other generally quantitative topics. Recent involvement has been with the "continual learning philosophy" of two corporations in the area, SPCC management with Wabash Corporation throughout the eastern part of the United States and as a Consulting Engineer with the City of Clarksville on the $34,000,000 expansion of their Waste Water Treatment Plant.
